The KD Stormwater Treatment Separator utilizes gravity separation technology enhanced by coalescing plate pack internals. The separation process is based on Stokes’ Law, which governs the rise velocity of oil droplets based on their size, density, and viscosity of the water phase. Polluted runoff often contains gasoline, motor oil, heavy metals, and debris, making separation essential. Within the separator, coalescence occurs—where small oil droplets collide and merge into larger droplets. This enhances separation efficiency, as larger droplets rise more rapidly to the surface, where they are effectively removed.
